Axion vs Zoho Books for UAE SMEs: prices and features 2026
Zoho Books UAE plan prices, user limits and add-on payroll set beside Axion's per-box, unlimited-user model, with dates and sources, so a UAE SME can compare on facts.
Every Zoho figure below was read from zoho.com on 4 September 2026, and every Axion statement comes from the pricing and features pages on the same day. Axion is the publisher of this page, so treat it as one vendor's summary of another vendor's public pages, not as neutral advice. Nothing here comments on how either product performs in use. It records what each company publishes about price, plan limits and scope, so that a UAE SME can compare on facts and then check both sources directly.
Who each product is for
Zoho Books is accounting software sold in six tiers, from a Free plan for one user to an Ultimate plan for 15 users. The tier sets the user count, the yearly invoice allowance and the feature list. Payroll is a separate Zoho product with its own plans, priced per organisation plus a charge per employee.
Axion is a business platform made of four working boxes, Finance, People, Sales and Supply Chain, under one Dashboard hub with an Ask Axion assistant. It is priced per box with unlimited users on every plan, and is sold as a Single Box, as the full Suite, or as a one-time Lifetime licence. Pricing is shared during a pilot conversation rather than published, and the Suite is what the 90-day pilot runs on.

Zoho Books UAE plans as of 4 September 2026
All figures are AED per organisation per month from the Zoho Books UAE pricing page, which states "Prices are exclusive of local taxes."
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Users | Invoices a year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | AED 0 | AED 0 | 1 user plus 1 accountant | 1,000 |

The Free plan stays free indefinitely if annual revenue is AED 200,000 or less. Extra users on any paid plan cost AED 10 per user per month, or AED 8 billed annually, per the page's add-on list; add-ons are not supported on the Free plan except document autoscans. VAT tracking and direct VAT filing appear from Standard, inventory and purchase orders from Professional, and warehouses with serial or batch tracking from Elite.
Payroll: a separate Zoho product priced per employee
The Zoho Payroll UAE pricing page lists three plans, each including 5 employees, exclusive of VAT: Standard at AED 45 monthly or AED 35 yearly plus AED 9 or AED 7 per additional employee; Professional at AED 65 or AED 55 plus AED 13 or AED 11; Premium at AED 90 or AED 75 plus AED 18 or AED 15. The Standard feature list includes "Compliance - WPS, Pension, Gratuity across UAE" and "Auto generated SIF files for salary payments". A Zoho blog post dated 10 December 2025 states that Zoho Payroll is live across all six GCC countries.
In Axion, payroll sits inside the People box: the features page states "WPS wage files generated for every pay run" and "GOSI and end of service gratuity calculated automatically". The rules behind those files are in the GCC payroll, WPS and GOSI compliance guide.

When Zoho Books is the better fit
- Your annual revenue is AED 200,000 or less and one person plus an accountant is enough, because the Free plan carries no charge.
- You need accounting only, a user count that a plan or its add-on users covers, and a published AED price you can start paying today without a sales conversation.
- You want VAT 201 filed to EmaraTax from inside the software. Zoho states that connection on its VAT filing page; Axion makes no such claim.
- You need a corporate tax module today. Zoho's corporate tax page describes one, quoting 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above it, and the pricing page lists corporate tax compliance from the Professional plan.
- Your invoice volume sits within a plan's yearly allowance and your payroll headcount keeps the per-employee charge modest.
When Axion is the better fit
- You need more logins than a Zoho plan includes and would rather not buy add-on users, or the number who need a login changes often, since Axion charges per box and never per seat.
- You want finance, payroll, sales pipeline and stock in one system with one login rather than separate products.
- You run a group with several branches and want one Dashboard that rolls the group up or focuses on a single branch.
- You want Arabic and English across every screen, including payroll and stock, with documents produced in either language.
- You want to run the full Suite on your own numbers for 90 days before deciding, with no card required, and you value a one-time Lifetime licence as an option.
The ERP buyer's guide for UAE and Saudi businesses has a fuller checklist for this decision.
A five-year cost example for 10 and 30 users
Two illustrative companies on yearly billing, using the Zoho figures above. Zoho's prices are exclusive of local taxes, so add VAT at the UAE rate where it applies.
Company A: 10 logins, 20 employees on payroll. Zoho Books Premium includes 10 users: AED 120 x 12 = AED 1,440 a year. Zoho Payroll Standard includes 5 employees, so 15 more at AED 7: AED 35 + (15 x AED 7) = AED 140 a month, x 12 = AED 1,680 a year. Total AED 3,120 a year, x 5 = AED 15,600 over five years. On monthly billing the same mix is (AED 159 x 12) + ((AED 45 + 15 x AED 9) x 12) = AED 1,908 + AED 2,160 = AED 4,068 a year, or AED 20,340 over five years. If you need the warehouse and serial or batch features listed on Elite, substitute AED 280 for AED 120, which lifts the Books element from AED 7,200 to AED 16,800 over five years.
Company B: 30 logins, 60 employees on payroll. On Premium, the same tier as Company A, with 20 add-on users: AED 120 + (20 x AED 8) = AED 280 a month, x 12 = AED 3,360 a year, x 5 = AED 16,800. Zoho Payroll Standard for 60 employees: AED 35 + (55 x AED 7) = AED 420 a month, x 12 = AED 5,040 a year, x 5 = AED 25,200. Total AED 42,000 over five years. On Elite the Books element is (AED 280 + AED 160) x 12 x 5 = AED 26,400, total AED 51,600; on Ultimate it is (AED 660 + 15 x AED 8) x 12 x 5 = AED 46,800, total AED 72,000.
Axion, either company. Axion publishes no list price, so no figure can be written here. The formula is the quoted annual price for your box mix multiplied by five, and the user count does not enter it, so Company B's Axion figure equals Company A's for the same boxes. The pricing page states that annual billing gives two months free versus paying monthly, that there is no setup fee and no minimum term, and that a one-time Lifetime licence replaces the recurring figure with a single payment. Request a quote through the pricing page and set it beside the Zoho arithmetic above.
